From an early age, D.J.J. Watson was obsessed with fantasy worlds. The problem? When he turned to books, he couldn’t finish most of them. Many were so bloated and choked with endless POVs that it was easier to neck several shots of vodka than remember who was who.

Yearning for high-stakes magic without the filler, Watson assumed he was the problem. It took the 2020 lockdowns in a cockroach-ridden Cypriot apartment—and his partner Laura refusing to watch The Lord of the Rings for the 113th time—for him to finally write the solution.

Thus, The Divided Region was born.

This series was built on a simple mission: bring more short, bingeable, fast-paced fantasy into a market dominated by bigger books.

When he isn’t writing, Watson lives in the UK, where he raises two rambunctious boys (affectionately dubbed Stinker One and Stinker Two) and survives on high-quality coffee. He also acts as the Overlord & Saviour of The Legion, his daily newsletter where he connects with his most ardent fans (Legionnaires) via whimsical musings and egregious puns.
